What is HiBD biodiesel?

Turning waste cooking oil into high-quality biodiesel.
We aim to create a recycling-oriented society with reliable oil conversion technology.

HiBD technology is a "catalytic cracking technology for animal and vegetable fats and oils using a catalyst", which is a patented technology by Director Fujimoto of the HiBD Institute. With this technology, it is possible to generate high-quality hydrocarbon oil biofuel (a mixture of kerosene and diesel oil containing gasoline) from waste cooking oil and oil-containing biomass (liquid or solid animal and vegetable oils). can. As the first project, we were commissioned to develop a new biodiesel synthesis method for the SATREPS project, an ODA project of JICA and JST. We delivered the biodiesel production equipment "HiBD-β" to Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
In the conventional biodiesel production method "BDF (FAME method)" that uses methanol, the produced oil is fatty acid methyl ester (a compound of C, H, O), but in "HiBD" Since it is a hydrocarbon oil (a compound consisting only of C and H), which is the same as gasoline and diesel oil, there is no deterioration of engine resin or rubber parts, and there is no need to worry about acid or sludge generation or quality deterioration due to heat effects. Therefore, while BDF can only be mixed with diesel oil at a rate of 5 to 10%, HiBD can be used with 100% biodiesel, greatly expanding the possibilities of next-generation biofuels.

The HiBD biodiesel oil converter was selected by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) for the 2017 "New Energy Technology Innovation Support Project by Venture Companies" and was manufactured. In this project, we have succeeded in improving the quality of waste cooking oil to a hydrocarbon oil that meets the same mandatory light oil standards, standards, and JIS No. 1 standards as commercially available light oil, and has produced next-generation biodiesel. This result further expands the possibilities of the HiBD method technology.
RE:OIL
“Turning waste plastic into oil again” (HiCOP Institute)
“Turning waste cooking oil and biomass into high-quality biofuel” (HiBD Institute)
RE:OIL is an activity proposed by the general incorporated association HiCOP Institute/HiBD Institute, which aims to spread a new recycling culture. Our company supports this initiative, which aims to promote the effective use of discarded garbage, promote the recycling of resources, and create a recycling-oriented society that is both business and economical and sustainable.
